Sofia is a huge Thomas the Train fan so, when I heard that “A Day Out With Thomas” was being held at the Florida Railroad Museum we knew it was a must. We surprised her with the trip and even thought it was almost 2hrs away but definitely recommended if you have a Thomas fan. Check out tip #9 below for a link to Love Laugh Create’s Facebook page where we got our amazing matching tees.
The event was set up with a bunch of tents with different activities, train sets, gift shops and a scavenger hunt to get a “prize”. The prize was a little bit of a let down, it was basically a mat that showed all the characters and their names. But all in all Sofia had a blast.
I’m not sure what I was thinking but I didn’t think about a “museum” being outdoor. But it was and other than inside the tents, there was little to no covering. With a long wait to actually ride the train, this was an issue for our little dude who overheats easily.
These are my tips for surviving A Day Out With Thomas:
- Water…tons of water
- Be prepared for a port-a-potty visit if you have a potty trained little or stop for a bathroom break just before you arrive
- SUNSCREEN I’m not sure how but this is something I forgot
- Hats for the kids
- Stroller fan or blanket (if you are in colder weather)
- Snacks
- Camera, don’t forget the camera!
- If you see a break in the picture line for Thomas…RUN TO GET THERE!
- Get Your Thomas tees from Love-Laugh-Create on Facebook, I love her tees!!!
- Enjoy all the chaos…there is plenty of it!
Water is a must! We also pack some snacks. Kiddo is 10 and it seems like she has to eat every 2 hours or shes cranky and thinks she is going to starve to death. LOL
My boys would've loved that when they were little. Thomas wasn't coming to our area quite yet when they were at that age. So bummed to have missed out on all of that fun. My youngest overheats SO easily so I totally get how hard that must've been. Those are great tips!
Mine do the same but if we are home I can barely get them to eat anything…go figure!
I never had that issue with my oldest but my poor little boy overheats so fast. I forget sometimes.
that's so cute. my daughter always gets so excited when she sees thomas on things, but she's never even watched the show or anything. so weird! she'd probably like this. and i keep sunscreen in my purse once it warms up and one in the car; you just can't forget that!
We used to do this when our kids were younger in Illinois. All great tips here. The day out can be crazy, but it is so much better if you are prepared!
What a fun day! My daughter is 17 now and I really miss those fun days out.
