Nesting Series: 2 of 30- The Hospital Bag

January 10, 2014

Checklist done, check! After much musing on Pinterest, I decided I’m pretty “sure” about my hospital bag checklist. Not that Pinterest didn’t tempt me to go out and want to buy brand new EVERYTHING for my 2-3 day hospital stay but I refrained…I behaved. As a matter of fact, I’ve only purchased new slippers and will be purchasing new nursing stuff because those things were actually necessary.
I spent a few extra minutes typing out my iPhone checklist and making it a little pretty and printable. Feel free to use it too, if you are in need of one! I included some things that I didn’t really find on other sites that I think are important to breastfeeding. There were also some things I probably won’t bring with us, like a Boppy or My Brest Friend pillow. It didn’t really work well for Sofia and I plus, I’d hate to add any more bulk to what we are carrying with us.
Here are some of the specific items I’m packing, things I actually use:

Nesting Series: 1 of 30- The List

January 9, 2014

These are my last 30 days of nesting. I’ve started compiling the “final” list and we scratched off one the “to-do” items today: The Hospital Visit!

I’ve been sending the Daddy-to-be reminders for the last few weeks days about the hospital tour. Wouldn’t it just be our luck that with the crazy weather up north, he gets slammed at work and we end up to our tour about 20 minutes late. Oh and add in there that late this afternoon, I get a call at work that the Tiny Toddler is running a fever. Poor Big Sister but Grandma saved the day with some great Disney movies and a snuggle on the couch till we got home.

We got to see the digs we’ll call home for a few days. It’s going to be cramped quarters in the Mommy/Baby rooms opposed to Labor and Delivery but the Walt Disney Pavilion in Florida Hospital will provide a good place for a break for Big Sister once she gets bored of meeting the new little guy. They’ve mentioned that there is a big push for immediate skin-to-skin contact even after Cesarian section and I’m going to reiterate with the OB, barring complications, this is my biggest push. I want time with my little guy as long and immediately as possible.

Now that we’ve done the tour, it’s probably time to get the hospital bag in order! Of course, I have some pins for that. Just a short (yeah right) Pinterest break and then it’s more checklist building.

1 Month to Boy: Nesting Implosion

January 8, 2014

I feel like it’s taken a long time for me to let out a full breath during this pregnancy despite all signs pointing to positive pregnancy progress. But yesterday I was finally given my (almost certain) cesarean date and it’s only a month away. ONE MONTH AWAY! I’m breathing now but it might be turning into hyperventilating. Am I ready, like prepared? Is his room done, kind of, sort of. I haven’t finished all my cleaning, my “nesting” and organizing!

I blame the holidays for being a distraction and derailing my progress. That being said, I’ve decided that I’m holding myself accountable via blog. If I have to write about it, that means I have to do it. If I have to take a picture of it, then I better do it well…right?! This is my hope at least. I’m using this forum to get  me fully baby ready. I have exactly 1 month till go time.

We’ve started some projects but haven’t finished anything to completion. Welcome to the “Nesting Series”, I don’t promise that this will win any superlative for it’s masterful organization nor will it particularly happen in any sensical order. I’m sure that it won’t as a matter of fact because I’m lucky I put my clothes on in the right order in the mornings these day. But by golly, things will get done!

Starting tomorrow, enjoy the wild ride! 😉

Welcome!

Hi, my name is Chenoa! I'm a Florida native originally from Miami but has been living in Maitland for 22 years with a short 2-year break where she lived in (and fell in love with) Raleigh, NC. She’s part “adopted Southern charm” with a streak of feisty Miami girl! Read More…
