Sofia had herself an exciting last 24 hours to say the least. We arrived at the hospital this morning just in time to attend Doctor Snyder’s rounds and received some great info. Sofie has gained 50 grams (now 1lb7oz) and I think it has something to do with the “chocolate satisfaction” ice cream that mama ate the other night 😉 She has had several bradys and de-sats but normal, all things considered. She also is running her second day of the antibiotics which may be discontinued later today barring her 48 hr culture results. The initial 24 hr results just came back negative for any growth or infection, so we are celebrating that along with the two blowout diapers today! Clearly, she is tolerating her feedings quite well at 2mil and will be raised to 4mil today!! We’re expecting some more continued weight improvement this week from our little chunkster.
Mommy will begin kangaroo’in just after pumping this afternoon and Daddy will begin Sofie’s Mozart music therapy, suggested by my mother, Dawn Farsaci. She has been an instrumental leader and advocate for the Mozart effect for over 40 years and has led the choral program at Teague Middle School for almost 15 years. Daddy may also sneak in a little Sunday afternoon football with his little NYG cheerleader 🙂
I want you to know that I am thinking about you from february 2012 bump and i am sure now you are hearing about all sorts of miracle babies that were born about the same weight and have turned out absolutely amazing but i wanted to share one more
"My name is Delana Rose Stem. I was due November 2, 2007, but God and me had other plans. My mommy got sick and the doctors decided it was not safe for me to stay inside my mommy any longer. An ultrasound showed that for my gestation, I was only in the 3rd percentile for size. The blood flow through my umbilical cord and to my brain was weak and there was not much fluid around me. So, I was born at 28 weeks. August 10, 2007 @ 2:15 pm. I weighed 1 lb 3.4 oz and was 11 1/2 in long. I was rushed to the NICU with doctors, nurses, and Daddy. The nurses named me "fiesty," which is a good thing. I am a trooper….a fighter…an angel! Pray for me! I spent 96 days in the NICU and I cannot thank my nurses and doctors enough! I came home on November 13th and am loving it! I am now 3 years old and although still very small, I am healthy and smart. I started preschool this year and am just a load of fun to be around!"
this little girl was born to my first student teacher and is now 4years old, she is still tiny for her age but she is developmentally ahead and a ball of fire!!! I will continue to think about you in the months ahead!

Thank you so much for sharing her story! We LOVE hearing about other preemies. How wonderful that she is such a spitfire and doing so well for her age. These little ones are such a blessing.
